Licensing In An Ealing Home
If you’re in a London borough this is the bit that catches people. Ealing licenses treatment premises under the London Local Authorities Act 1991, and the list of what counts is long. Facials, manicures, pedicures, nail extensions, massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, semi permanent make up, microblading, ear and cosmetic piercing, sunbeds, laser, IPL. All of it. And advertising those treatments without a licence is an offence, not just doing them.
What Ealing Asks For
You don’t just fill in a form and send it. They want:
- Electrical safety certificate.
- Public liability insurance certificate.
- Waste transfer note.
- Qualifications for every therapist.
- Proof you’ve paid the fee.
Then an officer comes out and inspects before anything gets granted, and a copy of what you sent goes to the police and the London Fire Authority.
When The Licence Does Not Apply
It’s tied to the premises. So a treatment room in your own house in the borough is caught, but going out to clients in their homes generally isn’t. Ealing has a separate exemption form as well for cases that qualify. Ring the licensing team and get it in writing rather than working it out yourself.
